Marimallappa left his native place at the age of eight and came to Mic, as also by his attractive physicof the then Maharaja of Mysore, Sn Krishnaraja Wodeyar III, by his exceptional talent for acting and music, as also by his attractive physical appearance. He got a suitable at the Mysore Palace. of his own, decided to establish an educational institution in the city of Mysore, as suggested by Sri Rangacharulu who was the controller Sri Marimallappa was very much impressed by the service, sacrifice and generosity of the Maharaja for his subjects. He having no children of the palace at that time. He collected Rs. 50,000/- for this purpose. But, at the same time, he fell seriously ill. He then got a will written on his death-bed and saw to it that his intention of staring an educational institution was included in it. But some vested interest got the wilso written that his entire property was going to be used on building a temple. When he heard this on his death-bed, he became furious. He go the will changed according to his original intension. He met the then famous English Architect Mr. Standish Lea and got the work for constructing a suitable building underway. He breathed his last in 1872 after being satisfied that his ambition was going to become areality.
